The girl with the most cake

Hai, hello, welcome!

So this is what I look like now, moody teenager that I am

I’ve just returned to the world of unemployment and what a strange feeling it is. After a hectic year I’m taking a welcome break this week to recharge and refresh (read: drool over fashion week photos, eating too much nutella, watching films and prancing around my apartment in fancy clothes) and prepare myself for my next adventure.

As this year has seen me working in my first serious job where fashion was not involved, I’ve had some time to think about my own style and relationship with fashion and how it’s evolved over the years. I was struck while oogling NYFW coverage with my go-to style. I am always drawn to the fantastical, somewhat tailored and let’s face it, childish side of dressing.

Case in point: Alice + Olivia was the greatest presentation I have ever seen. I need to own everything and felt like I was looking into my own wardrobe if I were rich and actually sophisticated. Everything else I have saved down has followed in a very similar style.

At 24 should I be concerned that I refer to myself as a “girl” and never a “woman”? Is it so wrong that I feel underdressed without a bow topping my head and fancy myself as a French teacher in a new-age school for wayward girls (a la Mona Lisa Smile)?

Thoughts on a postcard!

Raconte-Moi Une Histoire

Glancing over my saved images from NYFW, I’m struck with the predictability of my selections- muted pastel shades in a spectrum of preppy, tailored shapes. New York to me is always a bit of a strange one- classic, grown up designers are not usually my thing but there was some amazing pieces within a good deal of shows this season. Bring on London I say.

Be Still My Heart

What lovely lads they are over at Proenza Schouler. I yelped in class when I saw this, it made my heart do that weird fluttery thing usually only associated with proper things like falling in love and other shit.

Sometimes I’m embarrassed of how girly I can be.

I’m going out tonight which is exciting because
a) It rarely happens due to my insane nerd tendencies
b) I’m eating at the BESTEST restaurant in Dublin
c) I’m going to see one of my favouritest DJs ever
d) Having best friends back is unbelievably amazing

Shut. Up.

Futuristic (from like a 70s POV) power dressing, YES

Part Japanese schoolgirl, part Parisian I-don’t-give-a-shit, all WHOPPER

It’s like someone decide that Lady GaGa was missing knits from her wardrobe and decide to fill the gap.

I realise Gwen Stefani is not really anything other than a smidge of a joke but these are pretty great despite the fact that the belts make me think of that schluh Jodie Marsh

Toni Maticevski

Absolutely all over the place for what should really be a coherent, single collection. BUT I am a fan of these little numbers.

I hate to choose favourites but if this were PE class and I had to choose for my team and I didn’t want to be stuck with the weird fat kid I’d go for Cynthia Steffe…
