Empathy

Hello blog world, remember me? We used to be friends… we giggled and shared pretty pictures with each other and gossiped for hours about clothes, clothes, clothes. I don’t want you to think I’ve forgotten about you, I’ve just been preoccupied with far less important things.

I’m going home next week and I can hardly wait to see all of my amazing family and friends, I’ve missed them all so. The occasion: my graduation. I am apparently a grown up which I find incredibly humorous. After all of the gruelling hours in the library, thankless last minute editing of group projects, learning to bite my tongue and get on with it… I’ve emerged on the other side with everything I could have hoped for from college- an amazing degree, faith in the sheer power of will and two of the best friends anyone could ever ask for (HAI NERDS)

Finding an appropriate outfit was always going to be a challenge- I swung from office chic to cupcake princess. Morticia Adams to pared down Chole perfection. I ended up with something completely unrelated to all of the above. I can’t go into details no but think… Mad Men. I found these shoots and simply must have one of these hairstyles please.

Thoughts?! It needs to be perfect and amazing and sturdy enough to last me through from 10am to 10am the following morning with a whoooooooooooole lotta dancing!

I’m going to be moving house soon, sharing with some lovely girls in Camden, can hardly wait! I’m also applying for a short course in CSM, must make use of being in London! Does anyone have any experience with their short courses that they feel like sharing?

Swing

Excuses, excuses I won’t bore you with them…

Just an update- I am in fact still alive. I’ve taken up swing dancing (lindy hop lads) and it’s amaze balls. I had an outfit post of what I wore (victory rolls and all!) but am still waiting for my friend to send me the images- hint hint!!

In other news, I’ve mainly been eating too much food, drinking too much wine and thinking about home and the future a lot. London is an amazing place but I can’t help but think about how much more amazing it would be if all my friends and family could be here too.

For breakfast this morning I had homemade (not by me sadly) raspberry macarrons with clotted cream and raspberry jam in the centre. Holy crap they were like little pieces of almondy-meringue heaven. If Jen could get right on that then come and visit me, I would be very very happy.

Fashion wise I’m all about AW right now- work has allowed me a lovely glimpse into what we have to look forward to on the high street and I’m a very very excited girl- long sleeve sweeping maxis, embellishment on everything, velvet, lace and a hint of 40s tailoring and tea dresses for the awkward transitional  period. I cannot wait to abuse my sexy discount.

To get in the spirit, these are my thoughts…

I have been a very very bad blogger. Settling into London life is proving more difficult than I first imagined! Firstly, it is hot hot HOTTTTT- I am inappropriately dressed more often than not due to the fact that I’m used to near Arctic conditions at the best of times… I have resorted to dressing as if I am holiday in Spain- did I mention that I don’t really make an effort when I’m on holidays? I always find it’s most important to wear clothes that allow a good deal of bloating when I’m on holiday- you get the idea XD

Thanks to The Portmanteau, I had the great pleasure of going along to the final debate in the Intelligence Squared series. It centered on the theme of “Fashion Maketh Woman” and had some great arguments from the likes of Grayson Perry, Paula Reid and Susie Orbach. I went in on the “for” side but left absolutely in favour of the opposition. It was really amazing to hear so many intelligent musings about fashion rather than the trite, same old we’ve all been subjected to over and over. The side in favour were a bit of a let down I have to admit but if you have the time you should take out an hour to watch it over here. If any of you do manage a look, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Apart from that, my job is going gooood, I’m reading a lot and I’ve been laughing at the fact that my friend’s balcony burst into flames because of the heat yesterday, for serious.

If anyone has any suggestions of awesome stuff I should do/awesome people I should meet, you know what to do!

Summertime and the livin’ is easy

London is gorgeous. It’s so hot and lovely and everyone has been so super helpful and friendly.

I almost have a gaff that would let me save enough to buy a decent camera. Life is generally good, excited to start my job and get settled, ready for visitors!!!

Regular posting will resume once I find out for sure what is and isn’t okey-dokey job-wise…

I hope the weather is as delicious wherever you are. Enjoy the extended weekend if you’re so lucky to have one!!

PS I want all this!

SO

I’ve been very very bold. As you all know, I was off to London (cut short by the horrible volcano) and then I jetted off to Spain to try and get over the stress of my final year which worked a treat.

I have some very big and terribly exciting news… I am moving to London later on this week to start my first real job. I went to an interview when I was in London and before I knew it I had a fantastic job offer.

I’m not sure how much I’m allowed talk about it but it’s in head office of one of the bestest high street companies ever ever ever. I’m working in their eCommerce division and I can’t imagine a more perfect job for me.

Hurray!! As a result, posts may be a tad thin on the ground for the next short while as I sort out my relocation etc. if anyone has any advice on how I should go about finding a gaff, what phone company I should go with, which bank is the sexiest or anything else send me an email!!
