I’ll Take the Rain

I have the most…

Brooches and bows. So simple but one of my favourites for accessorising. I’m rarely without a bow adorning my head. Here’s a small selection of my collection.

Here’s what I look like today. Somewhat bedraggled with the crazy weather we’ve been suffering through.

Velvet and lace are boss. I don’t wear eye makeup anymore- I look a little like an alien but hey that’s fine with me.

The girl with the most cake

Hai, hello, welcome!

So this is what I look like now, moody teenager that I am

I’ve just returned to the world of unemployment and what a strange feeling it is. After a hectic year I’m taking a welcome break this week to recharge and refresh (read: drool over fashion week photos, eating too much nutella, watching films and prancing around my apartment in fancy clothes) and prepare myself for my next adventure.

As this year has seen me working in my first serious job where fashion was not involved, I’ve had some time to think about my own style and relationship with fashion and how it’s evolved over the years. I was struck while oogling NYFW coverage with my go-to style. I am always drawn to the fantastical, somewhat tailored and let’s face it, childish side of dressing.

Case in point: Alice + Olivia was the greatest presentation I have ever seen. I need to own everything and felt like I was looking into my own wardrobe if I were rich and actually sophisticated. Everything else I have saved down has followed in a very similar style.

At 24 should I be concerned that I refer to myself as a “girl” and never a “woman”? Is it so wrong that I feel underdressed without a bow topping my head and fancy myself as a French teacher in a new-age school for wayward girls (a la Mona Lisa Smile)?

Thoughts on a postcard!

You know I like it loud

Dress- a gift from a lovely friend * Shirt- sample sale in my old job * Socks & Shoes- Penneys * Rosette- Handmade by an Irish designer, purchased in Lucy’s Lounge

Firstly a big mega load of thank you kindly to a very dear friend who I persuaded to lend me his camera. Mine has officially given up on me which is partially why I have been so shy of blogging lately. I’m not sure if you can tell but my bracelet has the sweetest little portraits of Blythe dolls, they make me smile- I have an entire collage of Blythe pictures hanging in my room. You can also spy my tattoo properly in these pictures.

I went to the launch of the Dublin Fashion Festival this evening in the beautiful dining hall of the Westin Hotel. There was bubbles, beautiful hats and lots of stylish so and so’s. Most importantly there was food. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t spend a considerable amount of time hanging around the chocolate fountain, “taking in the surroundings”

I cannot believe it is already the end of July- this Summer has been the fastest of my life so far. I have many lovely gigs planned and a mini excursion in September. Notting Hill Carnival is also pencilled into my calendar.

No excuses for how grumpy I look in both of these pictures! It’s been an age since I posted an outfit up here (or anything in general for that matter!) so here you are my lovelies. The weather in Dublin has been beautiful lately- my apartment luckily has lots of windows so it’s been flooded with light and abnormally hot every day in chez moi.

You can spy my new tattoo in the first picture, I tried to get it in the second one (while you’re there, check out my mad arms! Both are double jointed due to a clumsy childhood and broken limbs). It’s been a crazy few weeks and I couldn’t be more excited now that Summer has officially arrived. Along with the sunshine, three of my awesome friends are moving back to Dublin over the next few weeks and I have some great gigs coming up.

Expect to see many more prom dresses and midi lengths as I attempt to phase tights out of my wardrobe for the time being.

I remember

This was my face yesterday- I popped along to Topshop for the launch of their new dress collection. I bought something for my not so little anymore sister which I now want to keep for myself. Absolutely EVERYTHING I’m wearing bar my tights is from Miss Selfridge- the most under-rated shop on the high street.

Still getting used to working all weekend every weekend, Summer makes me want to lie around with daiquiris and dance music allllllll day long.
